A new wave of tension has emerged in Nigeria’s music space after street-pop singer Seyi Vibez launched a direct attack on Afrobeats star Adekunle Gold, following what fans believe was a subtle lyrical jab in Adekunle Gold’s latest deluxe release.

The controversy stems from Adekunle Gold’s newly released Fuji Xtra deluxe project, particularly the track Life of the Faaji, where a line has now become the centre of online debate.

On the song, Adekunle Gold sings, “They love my fuji, this no be Fuji Moto (Fuji Moto)”.

While the song itself celebrates Fuji-inspired music, while listeners suggested that Adekunle Gold’s Fuji sound is the “authentic” version, while indirectly dismissing Seyi Vibez’s FUJI MOTO branding.

The interpretation quickly spread across social media platforms, with the lyric dissected as a possible subliminal response to Seyi Vibez’s Fuji-themed project released in late 2025.

The situation escalated on Friday when Seyi Vibez took to X (formerly Twitter) with a series of heated posts aimed directly at Adekunle Gold.

In his first post, he wrote,“You are wack. Adekunle Gold you’re wack. And your swag is wack. Old fool!”

He followed it up with another message, intensifying the insult,“Adekunle panda Egbon ofo! Egbon ya.”

The tension did not start today. Adekunle Gold first leaned into Fuji-inspired sounds with his album Fuji, released in October 2025, which explored Fuji rhythms fused with modern Afrobeats and pop production.

Weeks later, Seyi Vibez released his own project titled FUJI MOTO, further expanding his signature street-pop sound with Fuji influences.

The similarity in naming and thematic direction immediately sparked comparisons between both artists.

The latest flashpoint came with Adekunle Gold’s Fuji Xtra deluxe edition released on May 8, 2026, where Life of the Faaji included the now-controversial line.
