Yobe's interim Secretary to the State Government takes office

Dr Mohammed Goje on Monday assumed office as the Acting Secretary to the Yobe State Government, pledging to enhance coordination, accountability and service delivery across government institutions.
nThe brief ceremony, held at the Governor’s Office in Damaturu, was attended by top government officials.
nGoje thanked Governor Mai Mala Buni for the appointment, describing it as both an honour and a call to greater responsibility.
n“The appointment is a great honour and a call to higher service,” he said.
nHe described the Office of the SSG as the engine room of governance, playing a central role in policy coordination and the effective implementation of government decisions.
n“The Office of the SSG remains central to policy coordination and the effective implementation of government decisions,” he added.
nGoje pledged to strengthen collaboration among Ministries, Departments and Agencies to ensure improved service delivery.
n“I am committed to strengthening synergy among MDAs to ensure that policies translate into tangible benefits for the people of Yobe State,” he said.
nHe noted that the current administration has recorded achievements in key sectors such as security, infrastructure, education, healthcare and agriculture, promising to build on these gains with a renewed focus on efficiency and results-driven governance.
n“Significant progress has been made in these sectors, and I will build on these gains with a renewed focus on efficiency and impactful governance,” he stated.
nGoje also paid tribute to his predecessor, Baba Malam Wali, commending his contributions and assuring continuity.
n“I commend his remarkable contributions and assure continuity in consolidating the progress made under his stewardship,” he said.
nEarlier, the Permanent Secretary, Administration and General Services, Alhaji Madu, who formally handed over the office, pledged the support and cooperation of staff to the new SSG.
nPUNCH Online gathered that Goje’s appointment follows his previous role as Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency.
nIt also comes after the resignation of the former SSG, Baba Malam Wali, who has emerged as the consensus candidate of the Yobe APC for the 2027 governorship election.
