Woman found dead in Cross River church toilet

Police in Cross River State have commenced an investigation into the death of a woman whose body was found inside a church toilet in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
nThe deceased was identified as Blessing Ayebe.
nHer body was discovered around 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, inside the toilet facility of a church in the Ikot Ansa area of Calabar Municipality.
nHer family raised the alarm after she was declared missing.
nOn Tuesday, July 1, her daughter, Peace Ayebe, reported the matter at the Federal Housing Police Station in Calabar.
nShe said she was informed of her mother’s disappearance by her brother, Saviour Ayebe.
nThe Cross River State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, confirmed the incident on Sunday in Calabar, adding that the case is under investigation.
n“The corpse has been deposited at the mortuary for preservation and autopsy to determine the cause of death. No suspect has been identified or arrested at this stage, as there is presently no evidence of foul play.
n“Investigation is ongoing, and further developments will be communicated as they unfold,” ASP Eitokpah said.
nAccording to police sources, Ayebe attended a service at the church on Saturday, June 28, but did not return home after the programme ended.
nThe sources also added that the investigation is ongoing.
