VIDEO: Nigerian-born US soldier begs Trump over sick daughter’s visa denial

A Nigerian woman serving in the United States Army has appealed to President Donald Trump to intervene in the visa denial preventing her 10-year-old daughter from joining her in the US, saying the child is critically ill and needs urgent medical attention.

The woman, Uzamaka, made the appeal in a video shared on TikTok, where she said she had been separated from her daughter for about 10 years and was afraid she could lose the child before they had the opportunity to reunite.

Uzamaka said she had taken an oath to serve the United States and had remained compliant with the country’s laws, but was now appealing to Trump as a mother desperate to save her child.

She said, “Please do not scroll. I’m at the verge of losing my daughter. They said social media is powerful, and this is my last resort.”

According to her, her daughter had completed the required immigration process but was unable to join her because of the current visa restrictions.

She said the child fell critically ill while the family was waiting for the immigration process to be concluded, adding that she needed medical care which she believed was difficult to access in Nigeria.

“I’m not just speaking as a soldier; I’m speaking as a mother whose heart is gradually breaking. I have been separated from my daughter for the past 10 years, and she remains in Nigeria,” Uzamaka said.

She added, “Every day that passes by increases my fear that I might lose her before having the chance to hold her again and reunite with her.”

The US Army member said she understood the importance of immigration laws and national security, but urged the US government to consider her case on humanitarian grounds.

“My plea now is not about politics but a humanitarian one, a compassionate one that you should review carefully and consider. I’m simply asking that there should be an exception for me and for people that fall into this category,” she said.

Uzamaka questioned why she should remain in a country with access to advanced healthcare while her critically ill daughter remained in Nigeria.

“How can I be in a country that has quality healthcare and let my daughter die?” she asked.

She also disclosed that she had reached out to her commander and US Senator Amy Klobuchar for assistance, saying the senator attempted to intervene but was informed that the immigration process was proceeding as planned.

“I’ve reached out to my commander and Senator Amy Klobuchar. She tried her best, and they told her everything is going as planned. But your visa process and policies are keeping my children from reuniting with me,” she said.

The mother further said she could not return to Nigeria because of security concerns, adding that her children should not be considered a threat to the United States.

“My kids are barely minors that can’t pose a threat and are not coming here to be criminals,” she said.

Uzamaka said she had also contacted American media organisations, including Fox News and CNN, in an attempt to draw attention to her daughter’s situation, but said nobody had responded to her as of the time of making the video.

She appealed to social media users to share the video and tag Trump, saying she had resorted to social media because she was running out of options.

“I never thought a day would come that I would be facing the camera and pleading. Dear Mr President, please help me reunite with my daughter,” she said.
