The 57-year-old Frenchman took the reins this week, replacing Sabri Lamouchi, who was let go following Tunisia's dismal 5-1 defeat to Sweden on Sunday, making him the first coach in World Cup history to be dismissed after a single game.

With only three days to prepare his new team, Renard faces a daunting challenge as Tunisia is set to face a skilled Japan side in Monterrey, Mexico on Saturday.

Renard, known for his extensive experience and tactical acumen, has earned the nickname of a “wizard” or “magician” due to his notable successes in the sport, including masterminding a 2-1 win over eventual champions Argentina at the 2022 World Cup as Saudi Arabia's coach.
