Trump renames AI as ‘Super Intelligence’

US President Donald Trump has announced that artificial intelligence will henceforth be referred to as “Super Intelligence”, saying the new term is a more accurate description of the technology.

Trump made the announcement on Tuesday while delivering his opening remarks at the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.

He said the United States rejected efforts to establish a global framework to control artificial intelligence, adding that the technology would now officially be called “Super Intelligence”.

“The United States also totally rejects any attempt to construct a globalist scheme to control for the artificial intelligence being spoken of so much now, hereinafter officially called Super Intelligence, changing the name,” Trump said.

He explained that the word “artificial” made the technology sound fake despite its capabilities.

“In that the use of the word artificial makes intelligence fake. It makes it sound fake, and it is not fake. It’s actually amazing, but we have to be careful,” he said.

Trump said US government documents would be changed to use “Super Intelligence” instead of “Artificial Intelligence”, expressing hope that other countries would adopt the term.

“In fact, it is exactly the opposite of what it purports. From this point forward, all of United States documents, and hopefully the world’s, will be changed to use the much more accurate term: Super, as opposed to artificial. So, it’s Super Intelligence,” he said.

He added, “In other words, welcome to the new world of Super Intelligence, SI. SI. Let’s see if that goes. It sounds much better, it is much better, and it’s much more accurate. Let’s see if I have any power. Maybe I do, and maybe I don’t. We’re going to find out pretty soon.”

Trump’s announcement came days after he asked his social media followers to vote on a new name for artificial intelligence, proposing “Superior Intelligence”, “Extreme Intelligence” and “Supreme Intelligence” as alternatives.n

In his post, Trump had argued that the term “Artificial Intelligence” was inaccurate and “very ineloquent”, asking followers to choose what he described as a more elegant and accurate description of the technology.
