Top performer in 2026 JAMB exams awarded ₦1m educational grant

Daniella Owoeye Jesudunsin, the top-performing candidate in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, has received a ₦1 million scholarship in acknowledgment of her exceptional results, with the award being announced by Owoeye herself in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

In her post, Owoeye expressed gratitude to the Ekiti Parapo in Indiana, United States, as well as her family and other well-wishers, describing the occasion as a memorable one filled with love and support.

She reflected on the experience, saying it was a "truly a memorable and heartwarming moment to be celebrated and surrounded by the love of family, friends, and well-wishers" and that her heart was "filled with profound gratitude".

Owoeye specifically thanked the Ekiti Parapo in Indiana, USA, for their "exceptional care, generosity, and immeasurable love", stating that their "kindness, support, and warm hospitality" made the occasion even more special.

She also extended her appreciation to the Obaleo of Erinmope-Ekiti, Oba Dr Sunday Aikuirawo Aniyi Amoyimade Atayese I, and the President of Ekiti Parapo, Hon. Awoniyi, as well as her parents, family members, and other guests who attended the celebration.

In a message of thanks, Owoeye said "My heartfelt appreciation goes to His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Sunday Aikuirawo Aniyi Amoyimade Atayese I, the Obaleo of Erinmope-Ekiti, Hon. Awoniyi, the President of Ekiti Parapo, my beloved parents and family members, and every well-wisher who took out time to honour me with their presence".

Owoeye remained grateful for the kindness shown to her and prayed for those who supported her, saying "I am deeply humbled by every act of kindness shown to me" and wishing them "joy, peace, divine favour, good health, and abundant blessings".

In a final expression of thanks, Owoeye stated "Thank you once again for making the occasion a beautiful and unforgettable one" and said she "remain[s] sincerely grateful to every one of you" and wished them "God bless you all abundantly".

It was previously reported that Owoeye, a 16-year-old from Erinmope-Ekiti in Moba Local Government Area of Ekiti State, emerged as the highest scorer in the 2026 UTME with an aggregate score of 372 out of 400, having taken the examination in Ogun State.

Owoeye's impressive scores included 98 in English Language, 98 in Chemistry, 94 in Physics, and 82 in Biology, and she is currently seeking admission to study Medicine and Surgery at the University of Lagos.

In an earlier conversation, Owoeye attributed her success to "early preparation, consistency and smart studying" rather than spending long hours reading, and revealed that she relied on past questions, CBT applications, online tutorials, and study groups to identify and improve her weak areas throughout her preparation.
