Tinubu walks to work and has just one meal a day, says NRS chief

Zacch Adedeji, the Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, has downplayed concerns about the perceived opulent lifestyles of government officials, asserting that President Bola Tinubu leads a modest life despite his high-ranking position.
nAdedeji made these remarks during a Sunday interview with Channels Television, where journalist Seun Okinbaloye posed questions about the lifestyles of public officials amidst the country's economic struggles.
nThe conversation took place against a backdrop of intense public debate surrounding government expenditure and the lifestyles of political leaders, as Nigerians grapple with escalating living costs and economic hardship.
nWhen questioned about President Tinubu's transportation and alleged use of luxury vehicles, Adedeji countered that the President typically walks from his residence to his office and only uses a vehicle when traveling to the airport.
nAdedeji also revealed that the President has adopted a frugal diet, eating only once a day, and has not traveled abroad in the past three months.
nRegarding the reported number of Escalades in the President's convoy, Adedeji challenged the assumption underlying the question, arguing that President Tinubu can afford such vehicles.
nAdedeji stated, "Mr President walks from home to office, only driving when he needs to go to the airport, and I'm unaware of any convoy," while also inquiring about the cost of an Escalade and whether it was beyond the President's means.
nHe further emphasized the President's modest lifestyle, saying, "What constitutes living large when he hasn't left the country in months, works tirelessly, and only eats once a day?"
nAdedeji also asked rhetorically, "How many parties has the President attended in the last three years, and where has he been seen on holiday or at any other event?"
