Tinubu touches down in Kenya ahead of Africa-France gathering

President Bola Tinubu has touched down in Nairobi, Kenya, in anticipation of the Africa-France Summit, which is set to commence later on Monday.

The President's aircraft, an Airbus A330-200, landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at approximately 12:15 a.m. local time on Monday, as announced by the State House media office in the early hours of the day.

Tinubu's visit to Kenya, his second since July 2023, represents the second stop on a three-nation tour that initially took him to France, where he met with global investors and reaffirmed Nigeria's dedication to fiscal discipline and economic reform.

The Africa-France Summit, co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto, will run from May 11 to May 12 and is themed "Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth".

This summit will focus on key areas including energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, the restructuring of global financing architecture, and climate action.

According to the Presidency, President Tinubu's participation in the summit will underscore Nigeria's commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with African nations and France.

The President is expected to deliver a statement outlining his administration's ongoing reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria as a prime destination for investment and growth.

Additionally, he is scheduled to hold high-level bilateral meetings with top global and African business leaders on the sidelines of the summit.

Following the Nairobi summit, President Tinubu will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, to attend the annual Africa CEO Forum, which is scheduled to take place from May 14 to 15.

He is expected to return to Nigeria at the conclusion of the Rwanda leg of his trip, ahead of the APC presidential primary, which is scheduled for May 23.
