President Bola Tinubu is set to unveil a commemorative book in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari, as the nation prepares to mark the first anniversary of his passing with interfaith and interdenominational prayers. The event will bring together family members, close associates, public officials, and admirers to pay tribute to the late president.

According to Boss Mustapha, Chairman of the Central Planning Committee and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the memorial programme will take place on July 13, the anniversary of Buhari's passing, and will feature prayers and reflections on his legacy. Buhari passed away on July 13, 2025, at the age of 82, after serving as Nigeria's democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023.

The July 13 memorial programme aims to honour Buhari's memory, offer prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul, and reflect on the ideals of unity, faith, and national cohesion that defined his years in public service. Mustapha noted that the event will bring together the late former president's family, friends, associates, government officials, and well-wishers to pay their respects.

Mustapha stated that the programme will consist principally of interfaith and interdenominational prayers, reflecting the values of unity, faith, and national cohesion that Buhari upheld throughout his life and service to the country. A select number of individuals who worked closely with the late President will also share their personal experiences and speak about his historical legacy.

A book of tributes, titled "Tributes and Condolences in Honour of Muhammadu Buhari", will be presented to the public by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, featuring contributions from the global community, including heads of state, diplomats, and political leaders. The book remembers Buhari as a man of simplicity, resilience, and integrity.

The book will be distributed for free, with Mustapha noting that it is neither for sale nor for fundraising, but rather a tribute to the late president's life and legacy. Following his passing at the age of 82 on July 13 last year, the world honoured his life for his humility and as a source of inspiration.
