Tinubu Names Son of Former Plateau State Governor as High-Ranking Aide

President Bola Tinubu has made a key appointment, naming Yakubu Jang, the son of former Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang, as Senior Special Assistant in the Office of the President.
nThis announcement was made by Vice President Kashim Shettima on Saturday, while he was delivering a goodwill message on behalf of President Tinubu at a significant event in Jos, Plateau State.
nVice President Shettima's message included the statement: “On behalf of Mr President, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Yakubu Jang as Senior Special Assistant in the Office of the President,” which marked the official declaration of Yakubu Jang's new role.
nThe appointment was revealed at a high-profile gathering held at the Tamarald Event Centre in Jos, attended by an array of notable figures, including Vice President Shettima, former President Goodluck Jonathan, and various governors and government officials.
nAccording to Vice President Shettima, the appointment reflects President Tinubu's commitment to recognizing capacity, loyalty, and the importance of incorporating diverse perspectives in governance.
nThe audience, comprising political leaders and associates of the Jang family, responded to the announcement with applause, welcoming the news of Yakubu Jang's appointment.
nThe appointment was made on the same day that Nigeria's political leaders came together to pay tribute to the elder statesman, honouring his decades of service in the Nigerian Air Force, as well as his roles as Military Administrator, two-term governor of Plateau State, and senator.
nAs part of the celebrations, former Governor Jang, who marked his 80th birthday, also launched his autobiography, titled Airman to Politics: My Life, at the event.
