Tinubu, ICPC chairman in talks at Aso Rock

President Bola Tinubu is receiving in audience the Chairman, Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, Dr Musa Aliyu, at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.

Our correspondent spotted Aliyu arriving at the villa premises at about 5:40 pm for the engagement.

The agenda of the meeting was not yet disclosed as of this report.

Thursday’s visit comes a day after Tinubu, at the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, directed a comprehensive forensic investigation into the fictitious Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council scandal.

It followed earlier disclosures by the ICPC about at least two additional fake agencies operating within government institutions beyond the one already known to the public.

It also comes exactly two weeks after Aliyu submitted the commission’s interim report on the PFIPC investigation to Tinubu at the Villa on August 6, 2026; 30 days after the President had, on July 7, mandated the ICPC to investigate the self-styled agency and its promoter, Adeniyi Matthew Adeyemi.

Adeyemi had accused the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, of collecting a N400m bribe from him to facilitate his appointment.

In the interim report, Aliyu had disclosed that Adeyemi was never appointed by the Federal Government, that the PFIPC was never established by any law, executive order or valid government instrument, and that the appointment letter Adeyemi paraded was forged and did not originate from the Presidency.

The commission also revealed that Adeyemi had created two other fictitious agencies, the FCT Investment Promotion Agency and the Foreign Investment Promotion Agency and Public-Private Partnership, using forged enabling instruments to open bank accounts, and had unlawfully taken over the office of the defunct Presidential Economic Advisory Council after its locks were allegedly broken.

ICPC’s report recommended the prosecution of Adeyemi, administrative sanctions against public officers whose acts of commission, omission or negligence enabled the scandal, and institutional reforms to strengthen internal controls across affected ministries, departments and agencies.
