Tinubu awards new Adamawa road contracts, approves N156bn — Works Controller

The Adamawa State Controller of the Federal Ministry of Works, Dimas Tuwai, has rejected claims that the Tinubu administration is marginalising Adamawa in federal road project allocations.

In an exclusive interview with Arewa Punch on Wednesday in Yola, Tuwai said the federal government under President Bola Tinubu has awarded several new road contracts across the state and re‑awarded previously abandoned projects, with much of the work at advanced stages.

“The president approved three major roads across the three senatorial districts of Adamawa State,” he said.

According to Tuwai, the projects include the Jimeta–Mayo‑Belwa rehabilitation, valued at N83 billion; Phase 2 rehabilitation of the Yola–Hong–Mubi road and Phase 2 of the Fufore–Gurin road, covering 20 kilometres, at N15.246 billion following completion of the 17‑kilometre first phase.

Tuwai also disclosed four newly awarded projects intended to boost the state’s economy: the Jamblamba–Malabu (85 km), contractor 40 per cent complete; Jada–Mbula–Ganye (44km), ongoing; Mayolini–Mayo‑Belwa (40km), awarded and due to commence soon and Toungo–Karanti (90km), linking Adamawa and Taraba states.

He attributed earlier project abandonments to inadequate funding by previous administrations and assured residents that federal roads in Adamawa will be rehabilitated and new ones constructed.

Tuwai added that Cham–Numan road rehabilitation and the bridge near Numan–Savannah Sugar Refinery are complete. He confirmed completion of the first 17‑kilometre phase of the Yola–Fufore rehabilitation and said phase two has been awarded.

The Numan–Jalingo road remains under review because of rising construction material costs, he said.

Tuwai appealed to Adamawa residents to support the current administration, reiterating that the federal government is committed to building critical roads to boost the state’s economy.
