Thugs bind and rob a married pair, making off with ₦4m worth of goods in Bauchi, according to authorities

Authorities in Bauchi State have apprehended two individuals in connection with a string of crimes, including conspiracy, housebreaking, and armed robbery, which occurred in the Gadau community. The arrests were made by operatives from the Bauchi State Police Command, as disclosed by the command's spokesperson, SP Nafiu Abubakar, in a statement released on Tuesday.

A 28-year-old resident of Gadau Town had filed a report with the Gadau Divisional Police Headquarters on July 3, detailing a robbery that took place on June 8 at approximately 3:00 a.m. The incident involved five unknown assailants armed with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons, who broke into the complainant's residence.

The robbers forced open the bedroom door, intimidated the complainant and his wife with machetes, and tied them up before making off with various valuables, including a Jincheng motorcycle, five Android mobile phones, and ₦1,000,000 in cash, totaling around ₦4,000,000 in value.

Following the receipt of the report, detectives promptly visited the scene and initiated an intelligence-led investigation, resulting in the arrest of two suspects, Salisu Umar, 20, and Sadiq Shehu, 20, from the same address and Azare, Katagum Local Government Area, respectively.

During the preliminary investigation at the Divisional Headquarters, the suspects underwent questioning, and an identification parade was conducted, during which the complainant's wife identified Sadiq Shehu as one of the individuals who entered her room and forced her to open the main gate for the other accomplices.

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the Divisional Police Officer and the team for the arrest and directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

The commissioner also assured residents that efforts were underway to apprehend the remaining suspects, emphasizing that all those found guilty would be prosecuted according to the law, and urged the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information to aid security agencies in combating crime across the state.
