Taraba State Finally Gets Its Own Permanent Police Headquarters 35 Years Since Its Establishment

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, officially opened the permanent headquarters of the Taraba State Police Command in Jalingo, the state capital, on Friday, marking a significant milestone as the first purpose-built command headquarters in the state since its creation in 1991.

This development is expected to have a profound impact on the state, as Disu expressed optimism that the new structure would bolster security operations, enhance officers' welfare, and foster stronger police-community relations across Taraba State.

Representing the IGP, Commissioner of Police Moorkwap Dongshal Sebastine noted that the facility would greatly improve operational efficiency and contribute to the overall peace, security, and development of the state.

The IGP commended the Federal Government, the Taraba State Government, the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, and other stakeholders for their support, stating that the headquarters reflects the police leadership's commitment to providing a conducive working environment for officers and men of the force.

Disu remarked that the completion of the headquarters is a long-awaited development, considering Taraba State was created in 1991, but emphasized that it is better late than never, and the project stands as a testament to the determination of the Nigeria Police Force leadership.

The IGP stressed that the welfare of police personnel remains a top priority, as motivated officers are better equipped to carry out their duties professionally, and the force would continue to improve working conditions through various welfare initiatives.

Disu urged officers and personnel to maintain the building and its facilities to preserve their value for future generations, and also called on traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth groups, and the public to support the police with timely and credible intelligence.

Governor Agbu Kefas, represented by retired Commissioner of Police Abeh Cyril, reaffirmed his administration's commitment to strengthening security, stating that peace and economic growth can only thrive in a secure environment.

The governor commended the Inspector-General of Police and the leadership of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund for facilitating the project, noting that the facility would enhance operational efficiency, coordination, and service delivery.

Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, Alhaji Mohammed Sheidu, said the commissioning of the facility underscores the Federal Government's commitment to strengthening security infrastructure and improving police welfare.

Sheidu praised President Bola Tinubu for prioritising security under the Renewed Hope Agenda and commended the IGP for his leadership, stating that investment in security institutions is ultimately an investment in the safety and well-being of Nigerians.
