Support Swells for Tinubu's 2027 Re-Election Bid as Former Diplomat Eyes Ogun State Governorship

No fewer than 11 socio-political groups gathered in Abeokuta on Tuesday to pledge their support for President Bola Tinubu's bid for a second term and former Nigeria Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Sarafa Tunji Ishola's 2027 Ogun State governorship ambition.

These groups view President Tinubu as a courageous leader dedicated to repositioning the country, and therefore believe he deserves another four-year term, while also describing Ishola as a proactive and experienced politician whose leadership style is centred on service.

The groups made their position known at a stakeholders’ engagement held in Abeokuta on Tuesday, where they expressed their support for both leaders.

According to Olawale Durojaiye, spokesperson for Good Governance Advocate, Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Ishola is a God-fearing and well-grounded politician with a wealth of experience, having served as Chairman of Abeokuta Local Government, Minister, Secretary to the state government, and Nigeria Ambassador to the United Kingdom.

Durojaiye emphasized that Ishola possesses all the qualities necessary to make the state great, and therefore deserves to be the next governor, while also expressing support for President Tinubu's re-election bid, citing his efforts to resuscitate the country's economy and develop its infrastructure.

Akeem Ademolake, Coordinator of Ogun Central Group, also called for support for Tinubu's re-election and Ishola's governorship ambition, describing Ishola as a leader with listening ears who is not strange to good governance and has the capacity to do it again.

Ademolake praised President Bola Tinubu for recalibrating the economy and giving the nation renewed hope, and urged support for his re-election bid to continue on the path of economic turnaround.

Chief Joju Fadairo, an APC chieftain and former Chairman of the PDP in the state, rallied support for Ishola's governorship ambition, describing him as a politician with uncommon love for the people.

Fadairo, who is also the Coordinator of Ishola's governorship campaign, informed that he had informed eminent personalities in the state, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo and the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, about Ishola's ambition.

Speaking at the event, Ishola stated that his priority is to promote political harmony in the state, noting that divisions among political actors are hindering development, and expressed his commitment to stopping hostile succession in Ogun State.

Ishola emphasized that his experience in public service has prepared him for higher responsibilities and reaffirmed his commitment to the development of the state, while also expressing support for President Tinubu's re-election, citing his courageous steps towards the country's progress and rapid economic recovery.

Ishola noted that during his time in the UK, he actively promoted the government's key policies to British investors, and believes that returning President Tinubu for another term in 2027 would be beneficial for the country and its people.
