Summit to equip couples for financial stability

The organisers of the second edition of the Marriage & Money Summit have said the programme will reflect on the everyday realities couples face as they manage marriage, money, family responsibilities and changing economic pressures.

The programme, themed “The Power Couple Blueprint: Rewiring Money Habits, Communication Patterns and Partnership Dynamics”, will hold on October 3 in Lagos.

According to the organisers in a statement on Saturday, the free one-day event will bring together couples, relationship experts, financial professionals and counsellors for practical conversations on building stronger marriages and achieving financial stability.

The convener of the Marriage & Money Summit 2.0, Dr Adetutu Afolabi, said many marital conflicts that appear to be about money were often rooted in communication, expectations, upbringing and unspoken fears.

Afolabi said the summit would help couples recognise these patterns, make better financial decisions and build their homes as true partners.

“The economy begins at home. When households are emotionally healthy and financially stable, they are better equipped to raise secure children, build lasting family businesses and contribute meaningfully to society,” he stated.

Afolabi added that the programme would feature expert-led sessions, candid conversations with couples, practical financial guidance and a Marriage Unfiltered fireside chat.

According to the organiser, the sessions are designed to help couples communicate more openly about money, understand each other’s financial backgrounds, align their goals and develop healthier systems for managing their finances together.

The convener also disclosed that 10 selected households would receive financial grants as part of the summit’s commitment to supporting families beyond the event.
