Soludo approves ₦200bn for Anambra investment corporation

The Anambra State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling environmental degradation by approving several strategic measures to drive environmental action, investment and digital talent development.
nThe government also approved a ₦200 billion capital base for the Anambra Development and Investment Corporation, with the state committing to contribute up to 30 per cent of the capital.
nThe decisions were contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Commissioner for Information and Value Reorientation, Law Mefor, following the fourth meeting of the Anambra State Executive Council held at the Government House, Awka, on June 29.
nMefor said the government reaffirmed the state of emergency on the environment in response to widespread environmental degradation by dedicating the rainy season to the commencement of a statewide desilting and waste evacuation exercise.
nHe added that movement would be restricted during specified hours to facilitate the exercise.
nThe statement read, “On June 29, 2026, the Soludo administration’s second-term Anambra State Executive Council held its fourth meeting at the Light House, Awka. The Council approved several strategic decisions to drive environmental action, investment and digital talent development.
n“The Council reaffirmed the state of emergency on the environment due to widespread environmental degradation. To enforce the order, all communities and businesses will observe a lockdown on Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.
n“The period is dedicated to the commencement of a statewide desilting and waste evacuation exercise. Movement will be restricted during these hours. Exemptions apply only to security agencies, health workers, ambulances, journalists, the fire service and other personnel on essential duties.
n“The Council approved a ₦200 billion capital base for the Anambra Development and Investment Corporation, with the state committing to invest up to 30 per cent of the capital.
n“The Council also approved the transfer of identified key state assets to ADIC. The corporation will soon launch a public-private partnership to mobilise development funds. Effective immediately, ADIC will operate as a highly favourable platform for both individual and corporate investors.”
nAccording to Mefor, the council also approved the Solution Innovation District to commence the Code Anambra Talents Mastery Cohort 2 programme.
nHe said the approval followed the success of Cohort 1, the abundance of tech talent in the state and the growing global demand for digital skills and innovation.
n“SID is the Soludo Government’s hub for technology and innovation. It trains, incubates, mentors and supports innovators, startups, tech companies and entrepreneurs to deliver solutions for Anambra’s growth, resilience and technological future.
n“The Council also approved the release of ₦315,460,777.41 for the restoration of electricity to parts of Uli community and the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Chinweoke Mbadinuju Campus, Uli. The contract was awarded to Urban Prime Nig. Ltd,” the statement added.
