Sokoto gov appoints eight district heads

The Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has approved the appointment of eight new district heads to fill vacant traditional positions across the state.
nThe appointments, according to a statement signed by the Secretary of the Sultanate Council, Sokoto, Sa’idu Maccido, were made following recommendations by the Council.
nThose appointed are Salihu Kadadi as Sarkin Arewan Kadadi; Isah Gidan Madi as Ausan Gidan Madi; and Gidado Dabagi as Sarkin Gabas Dabagin Ardo.
nOthers are Hayatu Dallatu as Uban Kasar Tudun Wada; Abdullahi Muhammed Danchadi as Sarkin Zamfaran Danchadi; Umar Shehu Goronyo as Sarkin Gabas Goronyo; Kabiru Marafa as Ajiyan Tsaki; and Muhammadu Buhari as Ardon Wajake.
nThe statement added that the formal turbaning ceremony for the new traditional rulers would be performed by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, at a later date.
n“The Sultan of Sokoto and the Sultanate Council congratulate the appointees for the well-deserved appointment and wish them successful future and God’s guidance,” the statement said.
nThe council urged the appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them and contribute to the peace and development of their respective communities.
nMeanwhile, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Sokoto State Council, congratulated one of its esteemed members, Hayatu Dallatu, on his appointment as the new District Head of Tudun Wada, Sokoto.
nThe NUJ Sokoto State Council in a statement signed by the chairman, Usman Bunni and its secretary, Muhammad Nasiru, said the council is particularly delighted that one of its members has been entrusted with such an important traditional responsibility.
