Shettima set to receive Zamfara Governor as he formally joins APC on Tuesday

Vice President Kashim Shettima is set to be formally received by the Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress next Tuesday, as part of a ceremony to welcome Governor Dauda Lawal into the party, marking a significant development in the state's political landscape.

The announcement of the Vice President's visit was made by state APC Chairman Tukur Danfulani Maikatako during a stakeholders' meeting in Gusau on Saturday, where he expressed the party's delight at Governor Lawal's recent defection to the APC.

According to Maikatako, the Vice President will be accompanied by the national leadership of the party, and the visit aims to bolster the party's popularity ahead of the 2027 general elections, particularly in Zamfara, a state that has long been an APC stronghold.

Maikatako noted that Governor Lawal's return to the APC is a significant development, given that the Governor was once a member of the party before leaving, and has now come back, satisfied that the APC remains his preferred choice after his previous party.

The state APC Chairman urged all party members across the 147 wards of the 14 local government areas in the state to turn out in large numbers to honour the presidential visit, emphasizing the need for unity and an end to factionalism within the party.

Maikatako also called on party members to put aside their differences and work together as "one family" towards the common goal of making Zamfara and Nigeria great again, highlighting the importance of a unified front ahead of the upcoming elections.

Former state APC Chairman Lawal M. Liman also weighed in, appealing to party members to spread the word about the Vice President's visit to their respective wards and local government areas, emphasizing that the APC is a unified family working towards a common objective.
