Sevilla turn down £8.7m bid for midfielder Adams

Sevilla has turned down a €10m bid from Serie A newcomers Venezia for Nigerian forward Akor Adams, with the Spanish outfit instead seeking a fee of around €25m for the 26-year-old striker.

Akor Adams joined Sevilla from Montpellier in January 2025 and went on to become a key attacker for the club, netting 10 La Liga goals, including two crucial match-winning strikes in the team's final four league games.

Those decisive contributions helped Sevilla avoid relegation and retain their top-flight status, and as a result, Adams has attracted interest from multiple clubs, including those in the Premier League, France, Italy, and Saudi Arabia, ahead of the summer transfer window.

Venezia, who are preparing for their return to Serie A after earning promotion, have identified Adams as a priority target to bolster their attack and avoid an immediate return to Serie B, and they have also explored signing Nigeria-eligible forward Gift Orban.

However, Sevilla's rejection of Venezia's €10m proposal indicates that a significantly improved offer will be required to secure Adams' services, with French side Olympique Marseille also linked to the striker as they seek to strengthen their attack.

Several Premier League clubs and teams from the Middle East are also monitoring Adams' situation, and although he has expressed a desire to stay at Sevilla, he may be open to a move if the right offer is made.

Sevilla, meanwhile, is willing to sell Adams to alleviate their financial difficulties, but only if they receive an offer that reflects the player's market value, which they believe is substantially higher than Venezia's initial bid.

With Venezia expected to return with an improved offer and competition for Adams' signature increasing, the Super Eagles forward is set to face another major transfer decision just over a year after arriving in Spain.
