Seven political parties, including APC, ADC, and LP, obtain INEC login credentials for 2027 candidate selections

The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced that nine registered political parties have obtained access codes to submit their candidates' details for the upcoming Presidential and National Assembly elections, which are set to take place ahead of the 2027 general elections.

INEC National Commissioner Mohammed Haruna revealed this information to the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Abuja, stating that as of Monday's close of work, nine political parties had collected the necessary access code for the national elections.

According to Haruna, the nine parties that have collected the access code are Accord, Action Alliance, African Democratic Congress, All Progressives Congress, Labour Party, National Democratic Congress, National Democratic Party, Peoples Redemption Party, and Social Democratic Party.

Haruna explained that it is the responsibility of participating political parties to collect the access code from the commission, rather than relying on INEC to deliver it to individual party secretariats.

To collect the code, an individual must present an authorization letter from the party's leadership, as stipulated by the commission.

INEC has issued guidelines for candidate nomination, and Haruna advised parties to strictly adhere to these rules, noting that party officials had already undergone training by the commission.

Haruna warned parties against delaying the completion and submission of their nomination forms online until the last minute.

He emphasized that INEC has extended the deadline to midnight on the designated date, and parties that wait until the last minute will have no one to blame but themselves if issues arise.

According to the INEC timetable, the submission of nomination forms for presidential and National Assembly candidates is scheduled to take place from June 27 to July 11 through the commission's designated candidate nomination portal.

The submission of nomination forms for governorship and State Assembly candidates is set to occur from July 18 to August 8, as outlined in the INEC timetable and schedules of activities for the 2027 general election.
