Security personnel thwarted a bid to steal from Ogbomoso power transmission facility — TCN

In the early hours of Sunday, security personnel from the Transmission Company of Nigeria successfully thwarted an armed robbery attack targeting the company's Ogbomoso Transmission Substation.
nA statement issued by TCN's General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mbah, on Tuesday in Abuja, revealed that preliminary reports indicated the armed men had gained unauthorized access to the substation by scaling the perimeter fence.
nThe break-in occurred near the gate, taking place between late Saturday night and early Sunday morning, according to Mrs Mbah.
nThe intruders then proceeded to the gate house, attempting to attack and deactivate the vigilante personnel on duty, but the security team repelled them by firing warning shots.
nThis prompted the attackers to retreat and flee through the same route they had used to gain entry, abandoning some of their tools and personal items near the fence wall in the process.
nAn early morning inspection uncovered abandoned equipment suspected to have been used in the attempted attack, as well as traces of blood and footprints leading to the point of escape, Mrs Mbah explained.
nA full search conducted after daylight resulted in the recovery of a bag containing additional tools believed to belong to the intruders, according to the General Manager.
nThe incident has been reported to the relevant authorities, and TCN is collaborating closely with security agencies to investigate the matter and prevent a recurrence, Mrs Mbah said.
nFortunately, no TCN personnel were injured during the incident, and the company remains committed to safeguarding its installations and ensuring the safety of staff and infrastructure nationwide, she added.
