Saudi Arabia licenses NAHCON clinics for 2026 Hajj

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria has secured official approval and operational licences from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health for its clinics and medical outposts established to serve Nigerian pilgrims during the 2026 Hajj exercise.

The licences authorise the commission’s medical teams to commence healthcare services for pilgrims in the Kingdom.

The commission disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the facilities were strategically established to provide primary healthcare services, including medical consultations, first aid and treatment of minor ailments for Nigerian pilgrims.

“In line with operational guidelines, pilgrims seeking medical attention at NAHCON clinics are required to present their Nusuk Card and International Passport for identification and treatment documentation,” the statement read.

The commission added that pilgrims requiring specialised or secondary healthcare services would be referred to accredited Saudi medical facilities, including King Fahd Hospital and other designated hospitals within the Kingdom.

NAHCON also confirmed that its Madinah clinic had been fully operational for the past four days, providing medical support and healthcare services to Nigerian pilgrims currently in the city.

The licensed facilities include the NAHCON Clinic in the Shara Sittin Area, located at Hotel Humaira, Umm Al-Qura Street, near the Old Al-Maatani Petrol Station in Makkah; the NAHCON Clinic in the Misfalah, Al-Tadwa Area, situated at Maatouq Al Qarhi Hotel behind Millennium Hotel on Ibrahim Khalil Street; and the NAHCON Clinic on Mansour Street Area, located at Niger House No. 1 behind Muasasat Alnaqd in Makkah.

The commission said the licensing of the facilities marked another significant milestone in its 2026 Hajj operations and underscored its commitment to safeguarding the health, safety and well-being of Nigerian pilgrims throughout their stay in Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the appointment of the Emir of Gaya, Aliyu Abdulkadir, as the Amirul Hajj for the 2026 Hajj exercise.

Similarly, the Emir of Karaye, Muhammad Maharaz, was appointed as the Deputy Amirul Hajj.

This was contained in a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin Tofa, on Tuesday.

The statement added that the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board is expected to provide maximum support to Amirul Hajj and his deputy to ensure smooth and successful operations.

Recall that Governor Yusuf had donated 200 Saudi Riyals to each of the pilgrims, a way of showing concern for the plights of the pilgrims in the Holy Land.

The airlift of the pilgrims from Kano State is expected to commence on Thursday, 14th May 2026, by Max Air.
