Rep urges support for Tinubu’s re-election

A member of the House of Representatives, Akin Alabi, has called for early political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, rallying grassroots support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu.

The lawmaker representing Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency of Oyo State unveiled a campaign group named “Friends of Akin Alabi for President Tinubu” in Ibadan, the state capital, on Saturday, drawing thousands of volunteers ahead of the next electoral cycle.

According to a statement shared with our correspondent, no fewer than 1,340 volunteers were mobilised in the first phase of the initiative.

The statement added that over 2,000 people had already been registered, with a projection to scale up to 20,000 across communities within and beyond the constituency.

Addressing supporters, Alabi underscored the strategic focus of the movement, emphasising structure over symbolism.

He said, “My goal is to build one of the most formidable campaign structures in support of President Tinubu’s re-election — not a ceremonial one, but a working network rooted in wards and communities.

“Let me make it clear that today’s launch is only the beginning, and that the movement will continue to grow in size and reach in the weeks ahead. I urge every volunteer present to become an active messenger — to go back to their neighbourhoods and speak plainly to people about the direction of the country.

“The reforms being implemented by the Tinubu administration are already laying the groundwork for a stronger economy, and Nigerians at the grassroots deserve to hear that message clearly and consistently.”

In his keynote address, the convener of the movement and a close associate of the lawmaker, Tosin Oluwadara, described the initiative as a people-driven political platform rather than a conventional campaign structure.

Oluwadara said the gathering was not merely a political event but a declaration of purpose, unity and grassroots intent.
