Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union pays tribute to Director-General of Department of State Services for innovative espionage and contribution to nationwide safety

The Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union bestowed the 'Golden Era Pillar of Critical and Strategic Intelligence for National Development Award' upon Mr Oluwatosin Ajayi, Director-General of the Department of State Services, as the union commemorated its 50th anniversary.

This prestigious award was conferred upon Ajayi on Thursday during a visit by the union's National President, Emeka Kalu, who led a delegation to Ajayi's office for a media/security-critical engagement and strategic partnership meeting focused on national development in Abuja.

Emeka Kalu commended President Bola Tinubu's 2024 appointment of Ajayi, characterizing it as a prime example of placing the right individual in the right position, with Kalu stating that the award itself was established to acknowledge exceptional contributions to national development, security, democracy, culture, and Nigeria's growth.

Kalu emphasized that Ajayi's appointment by the President underscored the importance of assigning capable and integrity-driven Nigerians to key national roles, highlighting the crucial function of the DSS in safeguarding Nigeria's interests and gathering vital intelligence.

Kalu further stressed that Ajayi's appointment was particularly noteworthy given the complex security challenges and emerging technological issues facing the country, prompting the union to present Ajayi with the esteemed award.

In response to the honour, DSS Director-General Oluwatosin Ajayi expressed gratitude to RATTAWU's leadership, describing the recognition as a meaningful gesture that would bolster his and the service's commitment to their national responsibilities.
