Premier League: Caicedo sets sights on Blues iconic status after putting pen to paper on fresh deal

Chelsea midfielder Moisés Caicedo has expressed his ambition to become a club legend after signing a new contract, committing his long-term future to the Premier League side.

The midfielder, who joined Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion in August 2023, has grown into a key figure in the squad, making 140 appearances and playing a pivotal role in the club’s recent successes.

Caicedo was instrumental in Chelsea’s UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup triumphs. At the same time, his performances during the 2024/25 season earned him both the club’s Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season awards.

According to the club’s statement on Friday, speaking after signing the new deal, the Ecuadorian international said he remains focused on achieving more success with the club.

“I am so happy to have extended my contract at Chelsea. I believe in this team, and I know we’re going in the right direction,” he said.

He added that his ambition goes beyond individual accolades, as he aims to cement his legacy at Stamford Bridge.

“We have enjoyed some great times together already, and my dream is to become a Chelsea legend. I will work as hard as possible to make that happen,” Caicedo said.

Since arriving in London, the midfielder has developed into one of the team’s leaders, even wearing the captain’s armband on several occasions this season, including in a recent match against Manchester City.

He has scored eight goals in his Chelsea career so far, with one of his strikes voted the club’s Goal of the Season in 2024.

Caicedo also stressed his desire to continue improving and winning trophies with the Blues.

“There is still a lot more to achieve, and I’m very hungry to keep improving every day. I want to win more trophies with Chelsea and give everything for this club and for the fans,” he added.

Chelsea welcomed the extension, expressing confidence that Caicedo will continue to play a central role in the club’s ambitions in the coming years.
