Police boost security at Pan-Atlantic University after viral forest video

The Lagos State Police Command has commenced a security assessment at Pan-Atlantic University after a viral video showed “two masked individuals emerging from a forest area adjoining the institution.”

In a press release, the Command said Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, “today led operational personnel of the Command on an assessment visit to Pan-Atlantic University following a viral video recorded and circulated.”

The statement was signed by Lagos Command Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi and released on Wednesday.

It was titled, “CP Tijani Fatai Conducts On-the-Spot Security Assessment at Pan-Atlantic University, Lekki, Emphasising Proactive Security Measures.”

At the scene, the Commissioner met university management and pressed for stronger internal safeguards.

The Command stated he “emphasised the need to continuously strengthen the institution’s security architecture” and “advised on practical measures to tighten security across the institution.”

The statement also referenced concerns about internal risk factors, quoting the Commissioner as stressing “the importance of avoiding acts of self-sabotage that could undermine existing security efforts.”

On operational support, the Command disclosed that the Lagos State Security Trust Fund has moved in aerial surveillance capacity.

It said “surveillance drones” have been deployed, “facilitated by the Lagos State Government,” to boost “aerial surveillance, intelligence gathering, and crime prevention within and around the area.”

The commissioner, according to the statement, assured stakeholders of sustained protection efforts, saying he “reassured the management, staff, students, and parents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property across Lagos State.”

He further urged immediate preventive upgrades at the institution, including “improving perimeter security, enhancing access control measures, and maintaining close collaboration with security agencies.”

The Command concluded by reaffirming its statewide posture.

It noted: “The Lagos State Police Command remains steadfast in its resolve to maintain peace, public safety, and security throughout the State.”

Residents were also urged to support policing efforts with information, through listed emergency lines published in the statement.
