Police arraign three over $100,000 fraud

The Nigeria Police Force has arraigned three suspects before the Federal High Court in Abuja over alleged criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and obtaining money by false pretences involving $100,000.

The suspects are George Ali, Anthony Ali and Simon Ali.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, the complainant allegedly transferred the money to the suspects in 2009 for the purchase and shipment of auto spare parts from the United States of America.

The police said the transaction was allegedly not carried out as agreed and that the funds were subsequently diverted.

The suspects were arraigned before the Federal High Court, Court 6, Maitama, Abuja, following an investigation by operatives of the INTERPOL National Central Bureau, Abuja.

The case was adjourned until December 3, 2026, for further hearing, the police said.

The statement read in part, “Preliminary investigation revealed that the complainant allegedly transferred USD 100,000 to the suspects in 2009 for the purchase and shipment of auto spare parts from the United States of America.”

It added, “It was further alleged that the transaction was not carried out as agreed and that the funds were subsequently diverted.”

The police said the arraignment followed investigations by the INTERPOL NCB, Abuja, into the alleged financial crime.

The Force reaffirmed its commitment to investigating financial crimes and ensuring that suspects are brought before the appropriate judicial authorities in accordance with the law.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to the diligent investigation of financial crimes and other offences, while ensuring that suspects are brought before the appropriate judicial authorities in accordance with the law,” the statement said.
