Police apprehend notorious thugs harassing drivers during late-night operation on Lekki-Ajah route

A midnight enforcement operation conducted by the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad has led to the arrest of suspected miscreants and hoodlums who have been terrorizing motorists along the Lekki–Ajah Expressway. This development was announced by the state Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, on Sunday via his X handle.
nThe operation specifically targeted individuals who allegedly harass and intimidate motorists, extort money from them, and in some cases, vandalise vehicles when drivers refuse to comply with their demands, according to Wahab.
nWahab stated that the squad's operation was aimed at persons who engage in such criminal activities, posing a threat to public safety and disrupting the free movement of people and vehicles across the state.
nThe Commissioner emphasized that the Rapid Response Squad will continue to carry out intelligence-led operations against criminal elements that compromise public safety and hinder the free flow of traffic in the state.
nWahab reiterated the squad's commitment to sustaining enforcement actions against criminal elements, underscoring the need to protect motorists and ensure the safety of all road users.
nThe Lekki-Ajah corridor has been plagued by recurring incidents of harassment of motorists by suspected touts, prompting repeated enforcement actions by security agencies in the state.
