Pictures: Tinubu Welcomes UAE Minister Shakhboot Nahyan to Presidential Villa

On Tuesday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu welcomed Sheikh Shakhboot Bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, the United Arab Emirates' Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, to the State House in Abuja, as announced by the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, via his X handle.

The visit was confirmed by Onanuga, who revealed that Tinubu had received His Highness Sheikh Shakhboot Bin Nahyan Al Nahyan at the State House, although the details of their discussion were not disclosed.

In a post, Onanuga stated, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu received His Highness Sheikh Shakhboot Bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, of the United Arab Emirates UAE at the State House on Tuesday”, accompanied by photographs of the meeting.

The photographs showed Tinubu, dressed in traditional attire, warmly greeting Al Nahyan before they proceeded to a closed-door meeting, with the Nigerian flag visible in the background.

The meeting between Tinubu and Al Nahyan took place months after the Nigerian leader was received by Al Nahyan at the Presidential Wing of the Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi in January, during the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.

Sheikh Shakhboot Bin Nahyan Al Nahyan has been serving as the UAE's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs since February 2021, and previously held the position of Ambassador to Saudi Arabia from 2017 to 2021.

Al Nahyan also has experience as the chairman of the UAE Equestrian Federation, showcasing his diverse background in diplomacy and other fields.

Tuesday's meeting occurred as the Tinubu administration continues to strengthen bilateral relations with Gulf nations, particularly the UAE, in areas such as trade, investment, and security cooperation.
