Pastor arrested for allegedly defrauding 18 Ogun members N2.5m

The operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested one Kehinde Makinde, popularly known as Pastor Kenny, in Ibadan, Oyo State, for allegedly obtaining N2.5m from 18 fellowship members in Saje, Adatan, under the false pretence of organising a government-sponsored pilgrimage to Jerusalem and promising each member N2m.
nPUNCH Metro learnt that Makinde was also alleged to have fraudulently engaged in manipulating unsuspecting victims under the guise of spiritual deliverance across Ogun, Oyo and Osun states.
nThe spokesperson for the state police command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Monday.
nBabaseyi stated that the alleged fake pastor was picked up after four months of sustained surveillance.
nHe said, “Following four months of sustained intelligence gathering and discreet investigation, detectives attached to the Obantoko Division, on 3rd August 2026, at about 1645hrs, arrested Kehinde Makinde ‘M’, popularly known as ‘Pastor Kenny’, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
n“The arrest followed investigations into allegations that the suspect fraudulently manipulated unsuspecting victims under the guise of spiritual deliverance across Ogun, Oyo and Osun states.
n“Preliminary investigation further revealed that the suspect allegedly obtained approximately N2.5m from eighteen fellowship members in Saje, Adatan, under the false pretence of organising a government-sponsored pilgrimage to Jerusalem and promising each member N2m.
n“The suspect remains in police custody while efforts continue to identify additional victims and apprehend his accomplices.”
