Past decade and a half has equipped me to lead Osun, Oyebamiji claims

Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress candidate for the upcoming Osun State governorship election, claims to have spent 16 years gaining the practical experience necessary to effectively govern the state.
nThis assertion was made during his campaign tour of Ilesa East/Ilesa West/Atakumosa East/Atakumosa West Federal Constituency, which included a visit to the palace of Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Adesuyi Hastrup, in Illesa, Osun State, on Thursday.
nOyebamiji's tenure as Managing Director of the Osun State Investment Company Limited and his time as State Commissioner for Finance were highlighted, as well as his achievements as Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, where he successfully reduced boat mishap incidents.
nAccording to Oyebamiji, his experience has prepared him to govern Osun State, stating "I have spent the last 16 years undergoing practical training and acquiring the experience needed to govern Osun State effectively."
nDuring his time at the National Inland Waterways Authority, Oyebamiji inaugurated a committee to investigate boat mishaps, collecting data from the Bureau of Statistics and comparing it to international standards, resulting in an over 80% reduction in such incidents.
nOyebamiji initially had no intention of leaving the banking sector, but was invited to serve at the Osun State Investment Company Limited by the former governor of the state, which he believes was a turning point in his preparation for governance.
nUnder his leadership, the Osun State Investment Company Limited was revitalized, and he oversaw the acquisition of 32 four-bedroom flats in Guzape, Abuja, as well as properties in Ikoyi, Lagos.
nOyebamiji outlined his plans for Ilesa if elected governor, including the completion of the water project initiated by the Rauf Aregbesola administration, and assured that his party would bring prosperity to the community.
nHe emphasized that his administration would prioritize the needs of citizens, allocating budget accordingly and ensuring that the people receive what they want, rather than imposing unwanted projects.
nOba Hastrup acknowledged the role of Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, in facilitating the repair of the Ibadan/Ilesa road after his appointment as Owa Obokun, and requested Oyebamiji's support for the establishment of more universities in his domain if elected governor.
nThe upcoming Osun State governorship poll, scheduled for August 15, will see Oyebamiji, incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, and 12 other candidates competing for the position.
