Parallex Bank supports Lagos athletes with N10m

Parallex Bank has presented N10m to 10 outstanding athletes from the Lagos State contingent following their exceptional performances at the 2025 National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State.

The gesture, according to a statement from the bank on Thursday, is expected to boost grassroots sports development.

The cash presentation, which took place at the bank’s headquarters in Lagos, saw each of the 10 selected athletes receive N1m for their medal-winning performances at the national tournament.

Speaking during the presentation, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Parallex Bank, Dr Olufemi Bakre, said the gesture was part of the financial institution’s commitment to youth empowerment and national growth.

He said, “At Parallex Bank, we believe that investing in young people is an investment in the future. These exceptional athletes have demonstrated excellence, discipline, and resilience, and we are proud to celebrate their achievements.”

Bakre emphasised that the financial institution remained committed to identifying and nurturing raw talent across the country to help young athletes reach the global stage.

“Through this recognition, we reaffirm our commitment to empowering young talents and enabling limitless possibilities for the next generation. Their performances at the National Youth Games deserved to be celebrated and encouraged.”

Reacting to the development, the Director-General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr Lekan Fatodu, commended the bank for its consistent support for the state’s sports initiatives, describing the intervention as a model for corporate social responsibility.

The DG said, “This intervention has contributed meaningfully to sports development in Lagos State by showing young athletes that outstanding performances can attract recognition, encouragement, and support from responsible corporate organisations.”

He further noted that the partnership between the Lagos State Sports Commission and Parallex Bank was a long-term collaboration designed to continuously discover, develop, and reward grassroots talent across various sporting disciplines.
