Pakistan blast claims seven lives in deadly suicide attack

A devastating explosion rocked northwest Pakistan on Tuesday, claiming the lives of at least seven people and injuring 20, after a suicide bomber detonated a three-wheel vehicle packed with explosives, according to police reports.

This latest attack comes on the heels of another deadly incident, which occurred just days prior, when a car bomb exploded at a checkpoint in Bannu, followed by a militant attack on police that resulted in the loss of at least 15 lives.

Senior police official Muhammad Sajjad Khan revealed that the suspected suicide attacker had approached two traffic police officers stationed at the checkpoint before blowing himself up, as indicated by initial reports.

Pakistan's foreign ministry took action on Monday, summoning the top Afghan diplomat in the country, after determining that a recent deadly suicide attack was orchestrated by terrorists based in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan's Taliban government has consistently denied accusations made by Pakistan, which claim that Afghan territory serves as a safe haven for militants.

The already strained relationship between the two neighbouring countries has escalated into violent conflict in recent months, including Pakistani airstrikes targeting cities in Afghanistan.
