Oyo legislator launches educational facilities worth over N280m, aiming to cover nine local government areas

A lawmaker representing Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, Remi Oseni, on Thursday, flagged off the Remi Oseni Smart Learning Intervention Legacy Programme, an initiative aimed at bridging the digital divide for students in the constituency.

Oseni, while flagging it off at Agbadagudu in Ibadan, the state capital, said the programme was about preparing young people for the future and not just politics

The lawmaker, who is the candidate of Oyo South Senatorial District under the APC in 2027, stressed that the programme focuses on future skills, adding that the hubs will provide training in Artificial Intelligence, robotics, coding, digital marketing, data analysis, and mentorship.

He said, “Today is about you. You are not merely the leaders of tomorrow; you are the innovators of today, the hope of our democracy, the builders of our economy, and the pillar upon which the future of Oyo South and Nigeria will stand.

“My vision is simple: an Oyo South where every student has access to world-class digital learning opportunities regardless of background.

“Through Artificial Intelligence, digital learning tools, robotics, mentorship and innovation, we are equipping you to compete confidently in a rapidly changing world,” he stated.

The lawmaker added that the programme would also cover free WAEC and NECO registrations, JAMB sponsorships, bursaries, scholarships and support for young entrepreneurs.

“As we approach another chapter in our political journey in 2027, I humbly ask for your support and your voice. Support a vision that has consistently invested in students and youth development,” he added.

In his address, the Project Director, Demilade Akin-Alabi, said one Smart Learning Hub would be established in each of the nine LGAs of Oyo South.

He disclosed that five hubs were already completed in Eruwa, Agbadagbudu, Ido, Oke-Ado and Oja-Igbo in Ibadan North East, while construction is ongoing in the remaining four.

“With the official opening of the Rosma Smart Learning Hub, we are taking a bold, decisive step toward democratising access to education and technology. This space belongs to you,” he said.

The Project Manager, Oluwafemi Odeyemi, said implementation would align with the school calendar. A 3-day ‘train the trainers’ programme will be held in Agbadagbudu from July 23-25, 2026

Also speaking, Bisi Akin-Alabi said each hub is solar-powered and off-grid to ensure uninterrupted learning. She said students can use the facilities for homework, research, and learning apps in maths, sciences, and digital literacy.

“It’s like changing the game from providing food and souvenirs to actually starting programs that will be beneficial for the future so that the children can be at par with the rest of the world,” she explained.

“We encourage everyone who wants to sit for their JAMB, UTME, and also those who are preparing for their WASC, to be fully involved in this programme. It is absolutely free. Hon Remi has sponsored it,” he said.

One of the beneficiaries, Hikmat Shuaib, an SS2 student of St. Anne’s School, Molete, Ibadan, thanked the lawmaker and pledged to maximize the hub to improve her academic and technological skills.

About 25 schools and over 250 students attended the unveiling ceremony.
