Oyo Deputy Governor, Aiyedatiwa, and Governor Makinde to be in attendance at launch of Olu Falae's new book

Top political leaders, traditional rulers, and prominent Nigerians are expected to gather in Lagos on Thursday as elder statesman and monarch Oba Olu Falae unveils his autobiography titled The Triumph of Grace.

The event will take place at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs in Lagos, beginning and is expected to attract dignitaries from government, the financial sector, academia, and traditional institutions.

This was contained in a statement by the publicity secretary of the Afenifere, Jare Ajayi, on Wednesday.

Falae, who is the Chairman of the National Executive Committee of the Pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, previously served as Secretary to the Government of the Federation during the administration of Ibrahim Babangida.

He also held office as Nigeria’s Minister of Finance for a brief period in 1990.

Prior to his political career, he built a notable reputation in the banking industry.

The statement reads, “The ceremony will be chaired by former Head of State, Gen Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd), while the book will be formally unveiled by the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.
nOndo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, will serve as the host governor.

“The Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi and the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, will add royal prestige to the occasion, while the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, will play host in a royal capacity.

“Former Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, is expected to review the book, offering insights into Falae’s decades-long career in public service, politics, and traditional leadership.”

Royal dignitaries expected at the event include Enitan Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, and Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto. The Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, the Deji of Akure, will also host the gathering in his royal capacity.

Former Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko is expected to review the book, offering reflections on Falae’s decades of involvement in public service, politics, and traditional leadership.

He was the presidential candidate of the Alliance for Democracy in the 1999 Nigerian presidential election, a pivotal moment that marked Nigeria’s return to democratic governance.

The book launch is expected to celebrate Falae’s remarkable journey while providing reflections on Nigeria’s political history as captured in his memoir.

He was appointed the Chairman of Afenifere’s National Executive Committee in May 2025.
