Oyebanji’s victory shows people trust his work — Ekiti monarch

The Olukere of Odo Oja Ikere Ekiti, Oba Ayodele Obasoyin, has congratulated Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, on his re-election for a second term, describing the victory as divinely ordained and a reflection of the governor’s impressive performance in office.

Obasoyin said Oyebanji’s re-election was a testament to his achievements across key sectors, including infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and human capital development.

Oyebanji recorded a landslide victory in the June 20 governorship election, winning in all 177 wards and the 16 local government areas of the state.

In a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Monday, the monarch expressed delight that Oyebanji had become the first governor in the state’s history to secure re-election for a second consecutive term since Ekiti was created nearly three decades ago.

According to him, the governor also achieved several other electoral milestones.

“He is also the first governor to secure the highest number of votes ever recorded in Ekiti’s electoral history, the first governor in Ekiti to enjoy the support of all his predecessors, regardless of political party affiliation, and the first governor to be elected and re-elected under the provisions of the new Electoral Act,” the monarch said.

Oba Obasoyin added that the governor’s track record, commitment to public service and vision for the state had earned him the trust and confidence of the electorate.

“Your impressive track record, unwavering commitment to public service and inspiring vision for the future have earned you, Your Excellency, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, the trust and confidence of the people of Ekiti State.

“Your dedication to upholding the principles of democracy and your tireless efforts to promote the common good are truly admirable, and we are certain that you will continue to serve our state with distinction and honour,” he said.

The traditional ruler wished the governor success in his second term and expressed confidence that his leadership would continue to bring positive change and lasting benefits to the state.

He also urged Oyebanji to strengthen security across communities in the state over the next four years to guard against the threat of bandit attacks and other criminal activities.
