Oyebamiji Urges Osun Electorate Not to Trade Their Ballots

Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress candidate in the upcoming Osun State Governorship election on August 15, has made a heartfelt appeal to voters, urging them not to sell their votes in the forthcoming poll, but rather use their Permanent Voters Cards wisely to elect a capable leader.

Oyebamiji emphasized the importance of using one's PVC judiciously, stating that it is an instrument that grants individuals the right to have a say in deciding who leads them, and he hopes that voters will choose him as their governor.

The former Osun State Finance Commissioner made these remarks in Osogbo on Sunday, during a meeting with the leadership and members of the Ansar-u-Deen Society in the state, where he outlined his vision for the state's future.

Oyebamiji declared that, if elected governor, he would redirect the state towards a path of growth and development, with detailed plans outlined in a document that will guide his actions as governor.

He reiterated the significance of the PVC, stating that it is a powerful tool that enables citizens to participate in the decision-making process, and he urged voters not to commercialize their votes, but rather use them to elect a leader with the capacity and potential to lead effectively.

Oyebamiji assured the electorate that, upon his election, he would immediately set the state on a trajectory of growth and development, as outlined in his manifesto, which provides a clear roadmap for the state's progress.

He also called upon the Ansar-u-Deen Society to offer prayers for the state, emphasizing the need for peace to prevail before, during, and after the election, and urging residents to allow peace to reign, so that voters can cast their ballots without fear or intimidation.

Oyebamiji stressed that the loss of life is unacceptable in the pursuit of electoral goals, and he implored politicians and citizens alike to prioritize peace and allow the electoral process to unfold smoothly.

Earlier, Hafiz Akande, the Secretary of the Ansar-u-Deen Society in Osun State, had described Oyebamiji as a devoted family man, a practicing Muslim, and a leader who listens, operating with a deep sense of reverence for Allah.

Akande clarified that, although the society remains apolitical, it will not abandon any Muslim seeking public office, recognizing the importance of supporting its members who aspire to positions of authority.

The Ansar-u-Deen Society views authority as a sacred trust from Allah, and believes that it is a noble pursuit for its members to strive for leadership with sincerity and competence, ultimately benefiting the wider society.

The electorate in Osun State is set to go to the polls on August 15 to elect a new governor, with the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord Party, amidst a field of candidates from 14 political parties.
