Oyebamiji flags off campaign, promises equitable resource distribution

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the forthcoming Osun State governorship election, Bola Oyebamiji, on Thursday said that, if elected governor, his administration would ensure the equitable distribution of public resources across the state.

Addressing a rally held in Ile-Ife, Osun State, to formally flag off his campaign, Oyebamiji highlighted plans for various sectors of the economy and communities across the state.

Oyebamiji, who had earlier paid homage to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, at his palace, said his team had assessed the condition of roads within the Ile-Ife metropolis and submitted a report to him.

He said, “By the grace of God, when I become your governor, we will commence work on the Enuwa–Fajuyi Junction Road. We have also assessed the Ilare–Sabo Road and the Aderemi Road leading to Ondo Road.

“We will renovate all dilapidated primary schools in Ile-Ife. We also plan to establish a modern market befitting the status of Ile-Ife as the cradle of the Yoruba race. We want a magnificent market that will make anyone visiting from any part of the world recognise immediately that this is the cradle of the Yoruba race.”

Addressing his supporters at the rally, Oyebamiji also promised regular training and retraining opportunities for civil servants within and outside the country.

He added, “We will not practise nepotism. We will ensure the equitable distribution of state resources across towns. We won’t deceive you. I am assuring our civil servants of regular training and retraining both at home and abroad.

“We won’t deceive you like the present government. Our hospitals are in shambles and lack adequate personnel. Our administration will encourage health workers to remain in the country and work. We will provide farmers with hybrid seeds that will increase output.

“Our agricultural policy will encourage workers to embrace farming and transform Osun through agriculture. Transport unions are our partners. We will assist your unions to improve their operations for the benefit of members and motorists.”

The PUNCH reports that voters in Osun will go to the polls on Saturday, August 15, to elect a governor. Fourteen political parties, including the ruling Accord Party, are fielding candidates in the election.
