Otti assures that 2027 will not hinder governance.

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, emphasized on Tuesday that the impending 2027 elections would not divert his administration's attention from its commitment to providing effective governance in the state.

Otti made this statement while receiving a delegation of the Old Students Association of the Federal School of Arts and Science, Aba, who expressed their confidence in his potential re-election and urged him to complete his ongoing projects.

The governor underscored that his administration remained steadfast in its dedication to delivering services, despite the emerging political landscape, stating "About 2027, we don’t let it distract us, but you have a point."

He noted that primaries were scheduled to take place within the month, followed by elections the next year, but expressed optimism that the Abia people would make informed decisions, recognizing what is in their best interest.

Otti attributed his administration's confidence in completing its mandate to divine guidance, describing Abia as "God’s own state" where God had initiated changes and does not have unfinished business.

He expressed gratitude to the alumni for their decision to renovate one of the hostels in their alma mater, praising the move as "commendable" and "laudable."

The governor also appreciated the association's choice of Abia as the host for its bi-annual meeting, which he believed reflected the state's improved security and development.

Otti disclosed that his administration had supported the Geometric Power project to ensure a stable electricity supply, acknowledging the efforts of Prof Bart Nnaji in driving the initiative.

He revealed that the state had signed an agreement to acquire the Umuahia ring-fenced area of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, which would extend power supply to more local government areas, generating 188 megawatts with an additional turbine.

The governor explained that the state had established the Abia State Electricity Regulatory Agency, enabling the state to regulate its electricity supply independently and detach from the national electricity grid.

Earlier, the President of the association, Tony Ejieji, commended the governor for his developmental strides, noting the state's improved security and attractiveness for events.

Ejieji stated that the association chose Abia for its meeting due to the improved security and ongoing projects, urging the governor to sustain the pace of development, and announced that the alumni had commenced renovation of a hostel in their alma mater.

The meeting was attended by the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, among other government officials and appointees.
