Osun State hunters throw weight behind Tinubu's bid for second term, urge president to sign National Food Security Strategy bill into law

In a significant show of support, members of the Nigeria Forest Security Service in Osun State have thrown their weight behind the re-election bid of Bola Tinubu and the governorship candidacy of Bola Oyebamiji, both of the All Progressives Congress.

The group, which comprises local hunters and is led by Chairman Nureni Ahmed, made this declaration following a meeting with APC leaders in Osogbo on Monday.

Remi Omowaiye, Executive Director of Project Monitoring and Implementation at the Federal Housing Authority, revealed that the group also appealed to the President to sign the bill regulating the operations of the Nigeria Forest Security Service.

Omowaiye stated that the group's primary concern was to collaborate in addressing insecurity in Osun, and they urged the President to assent to the Nigeria Forest Security Service bill, as he explained their discussions.

He noted that approximately 8,000 forest guards in the state had pledged to mobilize support for Tinubu's re-election and the emergence of Oyebamiji in the forthcoming governorship election.

The group also sought to establish a stronger synergy in tackling insecurity across the state and the country at large, according to Omowaiye.

Omowaiye commended the hunters, expressing confidence in their commitment, and noted that the APC would work with them to improve security in Osun and beyond.

He emphasized his belief in the hunters' ability to fulfill their promises, saying that the APC would collaborate with them to enhance the security situation in Osun and Nigeria.

Ahmed, the Osun NFSS commander, urged Tinubu to sign the NFSS bill as part of broader strategies to tackle insecurity nationwide.

Ahmed reiterated the group's commitment to supporting the APC in the forthcoming poll, adding that members would actively mobilize voters, leveraging their numbers and connections.

The NFSS commander noted that the group's membership of about 8,000 in the state, along with their families and friends, would be mobilized to ensure victory.

As the August 15 governorship election in Osun approaches, political alignments continue to shift, with various groups declaring support for their preferred candidates.

Members of the National and State Assemblies elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party have endorsed the candidate of the Accord Party, Governor Ademola Adeleke, in a significant development.

The endorsement was contained in a communiqué issued after a stakeholders' meeting in Osogbo, which was read by Deputy Senate Minority Leader Senator Lere Oyewumi, highlighting Adeleke's performance in key areas such as infrastructure, workers' welfare, healthcare, education, and democratic stability.
