Osun poll: Youths rally support for Oyebamiji

Youths from the 11 wards in Ejigbo Local Government in Osun State under the aegis of Ejigbo Youth Stakeholders on Wednesday declared support for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the August 15 governorship poll, Bola Oyebamiji.

The leader of the group, Miftau Adebowale, in a statement issued after a walk across major streets in Ejigbo to create awareness for Oyebamiji’s ambition on Wednesday, urged the electorate to reject campaign that lays emphasis on emotion rather than substance.

Adebowale, a former Special Assistant Media to ex Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, further said political discourse in the local government ahead of the election should focus on positioning the council area for development within the state, rather than dwelling on emotions.

“The youth of Ejigbo refuse to allow our local government to be converted into a pawn for external political agendas. Our communities require expanded road networks, agricultural support, youth employment, and effective representation.

“For these reasons, the Youth stakeholders from across all eleven wards stand firmly behind our party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji,” he said.

Extolling Oyebamiji’s administrative and political antecedents, Adebowale said the APC candidate brings a verified track record of administrative competence and fiscal governance.

He added, “As a former two-term Commissioner for Finance, he demonstrated executive discipline by expanding Osun State’s Internally Generated Revenue from six billion Naira to twenty-four billion Naira without imposing heavy tax burdens on small business owners or low-income residents.

“As the former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, he possesses direct federal access and technocratic capability.

“Furthermore, Oyebamiji hails from Ikire, an ancient town with deep historical connections to Ejigbo, as the founders of both communities are historically recognized as biological brothers. Supporting Oyebamiji is not a departure from our heritage; it is a strategic alignment with shared ancestry and proven leadership.”

According to him, an APC administration under Oyebamiji at the state level, working alongside President Bola Tinubu at the federal and the APC candidate for Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency, Ayodele Asalu will establishes a reliable line of governance.

He called on youth groups, student groups, artisans, market leaders, and elders across Ejigbo Local Government Area to look beyond emotional slogans and support Oyebamiji at the poll.

The PUNCH reports that 14 political parties have been cleared by the Independent National Electoral Commission to field candidates in the August 15 election in the state.
