Osun poll outcome, affirmation of people’s resolve to retain Adeleke — IPAC

The Inter-Party Advisory Council, Osun State Chapter, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election, saying the outcome of the poll affirmed the people’s resolve to keep him in office for another four years.

In a congratulatory statement signed by the Osun IPAC chairman, Tosin Odeyemi, who doubles as the chairman of the Democratic Leadership Alliance in the state, a copy of which was obtained in Osogbo on Monday, IPAC also lauded the electorate in the state for trooping out en masse to exercise their franchise peacefully.

The council also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, security agencies, the media, civil society, and all stakeholders for ensuring that the will of the people was largely reflected in the outcome of the election.

IPAC stated that the result of the poll showed people’s endorsement of Adeleke’s first-term programmes and a renewed trust in him for another term in office.

“The outcome of the poll was an affirmation of the people’s resolve to keep you His Excellency, Senator Ademola Adeleke in office for another four years.

“We recognise that such confidence comes with greater responsibility to serve all citizens without discrimination. As a council of political parties, we urge Your Excellency to run an all-inclusive government in this second term.

“Governance should transcend party lines. The talents, ideas and goodwill in the opposition and among technocrats, women, youths, persons with disabilities and traditional institutions must be harnessed for the good of Osun,” the statement read.

The group subsequently implored the governor to ensure that appointments and projects that will be executed in the next four years are spread equitably across the three Senatorial Districts and the 30 Local Government Areas, including the Area Office.

“No community should feel left out. When everyone has a sense of belonging, peace and development will be faster and more sustainable.

“History shows that the temptation to slow down after re-election can erode the gains of a first term. We encourage you to see this period as an opportunity to finish strong, consolidate on existing projects, and initiate new ones that will outlive your administration.

“The people expect improved delivery in critical sectors such as education, health, agriculture, infrastructure, youth employment and social welfare,” the statement further read.

IPAC pledged its readiness to play the role of constructive opposition and partner in progress, adding that criticism will be issue-based, and support will be given where policies align with the interests of Osun people.
