Osun cleric calls for peace after polls

The Diocesan Bishop of the Ijesa North Anglican Diocese in Osun State, Rt. Rev. Isaac Oluyamo, has urged politicians in the state not to allow their differences to become permanent sources of hatred or division.

According to a statement on Friday, the cleric spoke during the opening session of the third session of the fifth Synod of the Diocese, held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Esa-Oke.

Oluyamo, who prayed for the healing of wounded relationships, reconciliation within families, and the restoration of broken friendships, appealed to individuals and families to put the disagreements caused by the last governorship election behind them.

Charging the people to bury all bitterness and embrace reconciliation, the cleric also prayed against accidents, sudden deaths, calamities, and every form of tragedy in the state.

He congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory in the gubernatorial poll, urging him to put God first in managing the affairs of the state.

“Moving beyond politics, I appeal to individuals and families to put the last elections behind them, bury every bitterness, and embrace reconciliation, forgiveness, and peace,” Oluyamo said. “Elections will come and go, but relationships, families, communities, and the bonds of brotherhood must endure.”

He added, “I call on everyone who may have been divided by political differences not to allow temporary political contests to become permanent sources of hatred or separation.”

Insisting that God remains the ultimate source of security and guidance, the bishop encouraged citizens to rely on Him as their shield.

The cleric also called on the Federal Government to intensify efforts to tackle insecurity, warning that persistent killings, kidnappings, and banditry continue to threaten national stability and economic growth.
