Osun, APC disagree over Adeleke, IG’s meeting outcome

Osun State Government and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, on Monday differed on the expected outcome after the meeting the state governor, Ademola Adeleke, had with the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu.

The PUNCH reports that the visiting IG had told the governor that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Ibrahim Gotan, informed him that some wanted suspects have been found to be hibernating in the Government House.

Adeleke, however dismissed the allegations, saying Gotan had acted unprofessionally by deliberately refusing to arrest criminals that are reportedly hiding behind the political shield of the APC.

Reacting to the IGP’s comment during his visit to the governor, the state Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi in a video circulated through the social media on Monday, said Disu’s remarks may embolden criminals in the state.

Alimi said, “What IGP did is a subtle blackmail to embolden criminals. When the IGP said he had report from the Commissioner of Police that some criminals are stuck in the Government House for two years.

“Did he just hear the report? What step has the CP taken over the report or did he just hear the report?

“This is because I was there when the IGP came. When they entered inside and raised the issue with the governor, what did the governor say before IGP raised the issue on camera? If you raised it, did you take the step you supposed to take? The whole Inspector General of Police must know that whatever he says is in public domain

“Maybe we should say it is subtle blackmail or they just want to play to the gallery to support what the APC and BANIK are saying. When say something, let us assimilate it with sense.”

But the APC, while reacting, berated Alimi, saying his “Description of the IGP as a subtle blackmailer, for raising the issue of the allegation against the governor of keeping dreaded political thugs in the government house,” was misplaced and an afterthought.

The party, in a statement by it’s spokesperson, Kola Olabisi, obtained in Osogbo also accused Adeleke administration of needlessly injecting politics into serious security issues in the state.

He advised the IG that police action towards the smoking out of the criminals allegedly being lodged in the Osun State Government House should be extended to other places, including houses owned by the governor’s relations.

Olabisi who rated the current administration low in terms of performance, declared, “The anticipated respite for the already traumatised people of the state based on the misgovernance and policy somersaults of the outgoing Governor Adeleke is that the articulate, workaholic and ever-resourceful APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji AMBO, who has been toiling day and night when the deregistered Accord Party governorship candidate was busy dancing, cursing and victimising the members of the opposition, is coming to occupy the political leadership of the state through the forthcoming governorship election.”
