Osun ADC hopeful condemns judicial ruling stripping party of its registration

Dr Najeem Salaam, the African Democratic Congress candidate in the August 15 Osun governorship poll, has denounced the Federal High Court ruling in Abuja, which called for the party's deregistration, as a grave injustice.

The ruling, according to Salaam, will be rectified through proper legal channels, thereby safeguarding the democratic rights of millions of Nigerians who have chosen the ADC as their political platform.

In a statement personally signed by him, Salaam emphasized that the judgment is by no means the culmination of the legal process or the party's political journey, and thus cannot stand.

He stated, "I have been informed of the Federal High Court judgment purportedly ordering the deregistration of our great party, the ADC, alongside some other political parties," and reassured that democracy is governed by the rule of law, with clear avenues for appeal and judicial review.

Salaam expressed confidence that the appropriate legal processes will correct any miscarriage of justice and protect the democratic rights of millions of Nigerians who have chosen the ADC as their political platform.

He urged party members and supporters across the 30 local government areas, the area office, and every community in Osun State to remain calm, resolute, and focused, as there is absolutely no reason for panic.

The ADC in Osun State, according to Salaam, is a movement driven by the collective aspiration of the people for competent leadership, transparent governance, economic prosperity, quality education, improved healthcare, and security of lives and property.

No court judgment at this stage, he asserted, can extinguish the hopes and aspirations of the people, and the party's campaign remains on course, committed to offering Osun State a credible alternative.

The growing support the ADC has been receiving from workers, farmers, artisans, students, youths, women, traditional institutions, and professionals across the state is a clear indication that the people have embraced the vision for a new Osun.

Salaam urged his supporters not to be distracted by the antics of those who fear the growing popularity and acceptance of the ADC movement, noting that history has shown that forces opposed to change often resort to every available means to slow the momentum of a people-driven movement.

However, he emphasized that no obstacle can stand against the collective will of the people, and the August 15, 2026, Governorship Election remains about the future of Osun State.

The election, according to Salaam, is about creating jobs for the youths, making education truly accessible, improving healthcare delivery, ensuring security, providing stable electricity, and restoring good governance.
