Osun 2026: ADC Nominee Vows to Bring Reliable Power Supply

Najeem Salaam, the African Democratic Congress candidate in the August 15 Osun State Governorship election, has vowed to tackle the state's persistent electricity challenges if elected, prioritizing this issue above all else.

During an appearance on Uniq FM's Oro Oselu programme in Ilesa, Osun State, Salaam expressed his commitment to focusing on governance, development, and policies that improve the lives of the people, rather than engaging in political mudslinging.

A statement from Salaam's Media Office in Osogbo on Tuesday revealed that the former Osun State House of Assembly Speaker has been meeting with power sector stakeholders and investors to find a lasting solution to the state's erratic power supply.

Salaam emphasized that a stable electricity supply is crucial for economic growth, industrial expansion, youth employment, and the survival of small and medium-scale businesses, and he is determined to address the state's energy crisis.

He noted that meaningful development cannot occur in an environment plagued by poor power supply, and he assured residents that his administration would explore innovative energy solutions and partnerships to boost power generation and distribution across the state.

Salaam maintained that the people of Osun deserve visionary leadership that prioritizes peace and practical solutions, and he reiterated his commitment to restoring quality governance and sustainable development to the state.

The forthcoming Osun State election has seen various contestants outlining their plans for the state, with the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, recently unveiling a 7-point agenda known as 'PROSPER'.

Meanwhile, incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, who took office on November 27, 2022, has been implementing his 5-point agenda, which focuses on workers' welfare, education, infrastructure development, and security.
