Ogun State Plays Host to Second Edition of Wamufat/NSSF Sports Training Clinic

The Wamufat Youth Community Development Foundation, a US-based non-profit organization, is set to launch the second installment of its Wamufat Sports Camp, dubbed Run Ogun, from August 3 to 8, 2026, in collaboration with the Nigeria School Sport Federation.
nThis six-day event will offer complimentary coaching to children between the ages of 10 and 16 in multiple sports, as well as mentorship and character development opportunities, culminating in a community Race Day on August 8.
nThe camp's curriculum will combine training in various sports, including athletics, football, chess, netball, golf, ayo, and tennis, with daily lessons focused on values such as gratitude, respect, excellence, teamwork, resilience, and integrity.
nUnder the guidance of a team of dedicated coaches and mentors, participants will spend the week acquiring discipline and self-belief, which they will showcase at the public Race Day celebration.
nThe second edition of the camp builds upon the success of the inaugural event in August 2025, which drew over 450 children to the Agroterra Sports Complex in Joga-Orile, Ogun State.
nThe first edition of the camp featured appearances by Nigerian sporting icons, including Olympic medallist Mary Onyali and former Super Eagles international Mutiu Adepoju, who inspired and mentored the young athletes.
nAccording to Fatimoh Muhammed, President of WYCDF, "Last year showed us what’s possible when a community rallies around its children," and this year's event aims to "go further — reaching more children, deepening the mentorship, and reminding every young person that they matter, on and off the field."
nThis year's camp will again bring together international and local partners, with the NSSF leading technical delivery and operations, while US-based Run Your City will contribute coaching and storytelling from its global Run Your City movement.
nRun Your City's global movement includes chapters such as Run Bugesera and Run Kochi, and Agroterra Resort will provide the venue for the camp.
