Not a single active personnel has been found guilty of employment fraud, according to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Katsina Command, has asserted that none of its current personnel have been found guilty of orchestrating job scams, according to a statement released on Wednesday in Katsina by the command's spokesman, SC Buhari Hamisu.

Hamisu's statement was a direct response to a widely circulated report claiming that a serving Deputy Commandant of the Corps had been convicted by a Katsina High Court, which he vehemently denied as a gross misrepresentation of the facts.

The spokesman acknowledged that a conviction had indeed taken place, but clarified that the individual in question had already retired from the NSCDC prior to the court's judgment, thereby rendering the report's allegations against the Corps null and void.

Hamisu deemed it necessary to issue a clarification to counter what he termed a distorted narrative that could potentially mislead the public and undermine trust in security institutions, emphasizing the need to set the record straight.

The command's spokesman condemned the dissemination of the false report, cautioning that such misinformation could sow unnecessary anxiety among the public and erode confidence in the security apparatus, while reaffirming the command's unwavering commitment to upholding discipline, accountability, and professionalism.

Hamisu reiterated that the command adopts a zero-tolerance stance towards any criminal inclinations exhibited by its personnel, underscoring the Corps' unrelenting focus on safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure in accordance with its statutory obligations.

The NSCDC warned the public to exercise prudence when interacting with individuals purporting to offer employment opportunities within government agencies, advising job seekers to rely solely on official recruitment channels and verified information when pursuing employment prospects.

Hamisu cautioned that numerous unsuspecting job applicants fall prey to fraudsters masquerading as recruitment agents or government officials, resulting in significant financial losses, and urged the public to verify recruitment information through authorized sources before making any payments.

The spokesman appealed to the public to report any suspicious activities and to exercise vigilance when dealing with recruitment information, in order to avoid falling victim to employment scams and racketeering schemes.
